
International Legal English is a course for law students or newly-qualified lawyers who need to use English in their legal work or studies. Suitable also for self-study, the course prepares learners for using English in different areas of law environment and is divided into five semesters.
The following legal topics are covered during the 4thsemester [4/5] of this course:
Real property law : real property and personal property / conveyancing / lease, landlord, tenant / easements, usufructs, mortgages
Intellectual property : patents, trade marks, copyrights, trade secrets, design rights / passing off, unauthorized use, right of fair use / intellectual property rights
Negotiable instruments : promissory notes, certificates of deposit, cheques, to the order of, to the bearer of, bona-fide purchaser, holder in due course (HDC), debentures, usury, electronic negotiable instruments
