Participation in the Initial physics laboratory is aimed at acquiring proficiency in the basic skills useful in experimentation: planning an experiment, observing phenomena and accurately measuring physical quantities. Students perform experiments in small teams of 2-3 persons. They prepare experimental sets on their own, using the components and measuring instruments provided. Some of the experiments are observational, some measuring. Students investigate various phenomena, test selected physical principles and laws in mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, and optics. During the class they analyse the influence of various external factors on the effect of the experiment. The classes allow the students to repeat some topics from their school physics course and, on the other hand, serve as preparation for their classes at the Physics Lab I.
