The course aims to present statehood in terms of its evolution, interpretations, and deviant forms. A failed states concept (‘Humpty Dumpty’) has been used to refer the post-cold war security agenda. However, there is no universal definition of failed states and the category itself seems to be all but a tautology. Regardless of such rhetorics there are many dysfunctional states in the world. What does determine their “failure”? What should and can be done with them?
