International Legal English is a course for law students or newly-qualified lawyers who need to use English in their legal work or studies. Suitable also for self-study, the course prepares learners for using English in different areas of law environment and is divided into five semesters.
The following legal topics are covered during the 1st semester [1/5] of this course:
- The practice of law : the legal system / legal education / law firm structure and culture / practice areas
- Company formation and management : legal person / personal liability / certificate of incorporation / memorandum of association / AGMs / board of directors
- Company capitalization : shares and loans / share capital / ordinary and preference shares / pre-emption rights / rights issue / plain language / legalese
